Discovering Doornkop From A Guests Perspective

What Was Your First Impression Of the Resort?

From the moment we arrived at Doornkop, I was in awe. The greenery, clean surroundings, and breath-taking views of the mountains and dams instantly set the mood for a peaceful getaway. One thing I really appreciated was the spacing between the chalets—it felt like we were really secluded.

The check-in process was a breeze. The lady at Reception was incredibly friendly, making us feel welcome right away. Plus, we got some complimentary dishwasher pods, which was a nice little touch!

What Did You Like About the Accommodation?

Every part of our chalet was stunning. The size of the unit and the rooms really stood out to me—it was spacious yet cosy. I also loved the living room. The aesthetic and atmosphere made it feel like a true home-away-from-home, the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.

The best part, though, was the view. Stepping out onto the patio and taking in the sights of the dam and mountains was amazing! There was something so calming about the setting, making it easy to forget about the outside world for a while.

What Activities and/or Facilities Stood Out?

There was so much to do at Doornkop, but the highlight had to be our nearly three-hour hike with Michael. He took us on a tour of the ruins and the cave and shared his impressive knowledge of the local plant life. His passion for Doornkop was obvious, and it made the experience that much more special. It’s always great to meet people who truly love what they do!

I didn’t get a chance to try out all the activities, but horse riding is definitely on my list for next time.

For families, the resort is perfect. The swimming pool and games room are conveniently close to each other, making it easy for everyone to have fun without being too spread out. It’s the ideal setup for a relaxing yet entertaining family getaway.

What Hidden Gems Can Be Discovered Nearby?

Top must-visit spots are definitely the waterfall and pebble rock pools! It was a hike to get to the waterfall, and since we visited after heavy rains, the water was rushing down in full force. It was an unforgettable experience that I’d recommend to anyone visiting Doornkop.

One thing to keep in mind is that you may need a car to get around, especially if your chalet is a bit further from the reception and recreation areas. Also, the cellphone reception is limited.

Any Final Thoughts?

Doornkop is truly the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We love hearing from all our guests and really appreciate all the feedback we receive.

We hope to welcome you back for another visit!
