What RCI Silver Crown Status Means for Doornkop Fish & Wildlife Reserve

If you’ve ever noticed the RCI Silver Crown badge on Doornkop Fish & Wildlife Reserve’s website or social pages, you might have wondered what it really means. Beyond the badge itself, it’s a mark of consistency, quality, and a guest experience that keeps visitors coming back year after year.

The RCI Resort Recognition Programme was created to celebrate resorts that deliver exceptional holiday experiences and maintain high standards across every part of the guest journey. From the welcome at reception to the comfort of the units and the condition of the resort itself, every detail matters.

There are three main RCI awards: Gold Crown, Silver Crown, and the Hospitality Award, along with the Standard Resort grading for newer or developing resorts.

The Silver Crown Award recognises resorts that consistently provide excellent holiday experiences and strong guest satisfaction. It reflects a high standard of service, quality facilities, and an ongoing commitment to making every stay memorable.

RCI uses guest feedback through Member Comment Cards to determine these awards. Guests rate their experience in five key areas: check-in and check-out, hospitality, resort maintenance, unit maintenance, and unit housekeeping. These scores are collected over a full 12-month period to ensure consistency.

Beyond reviews, RCI also considers the overall resort offering, including amenities, guest services, unit features, maintenance, and presentation. It’s a full-picture approach that ensures the award truly reflects the guest experience.

For Doornkop, retaining Silver Crown status is a proud reminder that peaceful escapes, quality hospitality, and unforgettable family memories continue to be at the heart of every stay.
