Foot-and-Mouth Disease is a highly contagious viral disease affecting cloven-hoofed animals, including several wildlife species found within our reserve. In an effort to protect our wildlife, Doornkop will be spraying and sanitising all vehicles entering the Reserve.
Limited cell reception: MTN users have the best signal, while Vodacom and Cell C have minimal to no coverage.

Please note: Doornkop is a cashless operation. Only card payments are accepted.
Chalets are serviced daily. Laundry services are available for a nominal fee. Notify Reception if you prefer no housekeeping.
No backup power in chalets. Bring torches or rechargeable lights. Emergency lighting available for purchase at Reception.
The last 9km is a gravel road. While generally in good condition, heavy rains can affect travel. Contact Reception for updates.
High-quality braai wood is available at the Doornkop Shop:
To maintain Doornkop’s peaceful environment, no loud noise or music is permitted at any time.
Please ensure your permit is purchased before arriving, particularly if you intend to fish late in the day or in the evening. Bailiffs will be present at the dams and can issue permits if needed. Payments must be settled at the office the following morning.
Fly Fishing permits are valid for 7 days @R250/permit per person. Trout keeping fees: R250/kg (for fish weighing under 1.2kg) or R450/kg (for fish weighing over 1.2kg)
